Jumara Update: Relocations, Progress, and Reflections
Dear supporters of Sacred Arrow Workshop,
In the past few days, the development of Jumara has faced some interruptions due to a rather turbulent period. We are currently relocating our main studio and workstations, which has made it challenging to maintain our usual pace of development. However, we want to assure you that progress has not stopped.
Progress on the New Pathway System
Despite the logistical challenges, I’ve started working on one of the key components of the game: the new Pathway system. The foundational elements of the system have already been set up and tested, showing an implementation that feels fresh, simple, and functional. The goal is to complete this system in the coming months, but it’s important to emphasize that Sacred Arrow Workshop is a project born out of a deep passion for game development, and I intend to continue treating it with the same enthusiasm that started it all, without letting it become a heavy or burdensome task.
A New Approach: Working with Calm and Creativity
This is a period of change and reflection, and precisely because Sacred Arrow Workshop is a passion project, I want to take the time necessary to explore new ideas. I am eager to continue developing Jumara, but I also want to create space for other content and extras here on Patreon. This might include new discussions, articles, or simply more spontaneous and lighter updates. This relaxed approach allows me to avoid unnecessary pressures, ensuring that each update and each step forward is taken with care and enjoyment, rather than out of obligation.
Reflections on Development: Evolution and Growth
Looking back, I realize that every project and every version of a game represents phases of growth. Jumara, in particular, is a transitional title, a sort of first project that I hope will not be the last. The initial idea was always to prioritize simplicity in design, but throughout the development process, I often got carried away by the desire to experiment with new ideas. This has led me to repeatedly retrace my steps, trying to strike a balance between innovation and the original vision.
I’ve learned that game development is a continuous cycle of creation, reflection, and improvement. I strongly believe that if I were to restart Jumara from scratch today, the result would be completely different, but it would no longer be Jumara. It would be another game, with its own identity and place, but this title remains a testament to the journey so far, and I am proud of it.
What to Expect in the Coming Months?
In the coming months, my goal is to continue working on Jumara with a balanced approach, alternating between development, moments of study, and reflection. I aim to maintain a regular communication schedule, with updates at least once a week, to keep you informed of all progress. Some new sneak peeks and exclusive content may be coming soon, but I want to leave room for some surprises and spontaneity.
Thank you so much for your continued support. Jumara is just the beginning, and I look forward to sharing the next steps of this exciting journey with you.
Warm regards,
